Rethin upsets 2nd seed, enters semis at Sportle AITA U-18 National Ranking Championship

Rethin Pranav showed some brilliant resilience against the second seed Arjun Premkumar and register a comeback win to enter the semifinals in the Boys U-18 category of the Sportle AITA U-18 CS-7 National ranking Championship being held at the Topspin Tennis Academy.

In the quarterfinal played here on Wednesday, Rethin, after having lost the first set 5-7 and 2-3 down in the second, erased the deficit before claiming the set 6-4. He kept on improving as the game progressed to easily win the decider at 6-2.  Skanda Prasanna Rao, seeded fourth was the only seed left in fray after his quarterfinal win over Rishivandan.

Meanwhile qualifier Somya Ronde’s dream run continued as she scored an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kashish Kant to reach the last four stage in the Girls U-18 category.
