Rithik Jeyanth and Thanu VIshwas emerged as the champions in the Boys and Girls categories respectively in the Sat Sports-AITA CS3 U-12 tennis championship, played under the aegis of KSLTA here on Wednesday.

On a day when the rains failed to dampen the competitive spirit of the youngsters, the fifth seeded Tamil Nadu lad Rithik created a minor upset when he outplayed host state’s Likith Gowda, seeded second 6-2, 6-4, though the score-line didn’t reflect the long rallies for points from both the opponents, especially in the second set.

In an all-Karnataka battle for honours, top seed Thanu overcame second seed Shristi Kiran 6-4, 6-4 to wear the Girls’ crown.
