Kashvi stuns top seed to enter semis at AITA CS7

Mandya girl Kashvi Sunil stunned the top seed Mahika Reddy to storm into the semifinals in the Girls category of the Transform Tennis Academy AITA CS7 Under-14 tennis tournament held under the aegis of KSLTA here on Wednesday. In the quarterfinals, Kashvi sent home the fancied player in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. In another upset result of the day, Shreenithi Chowdhury beat third seed Zynah Amber 6-4, 6-3 to enter the last four stage.

Meanwhile, the top seed in the Boysixth seed Pranav Mahesh of Puducherry 6-2, 6-1 to enter the semifinals along with third seed Sehaj Singh who beat Nikhil Sreenivas 6-4, 6-2.

Kashvi, who had lost to Mahika in their earlier encounter, took to the courts today, oblivious of the billing of her opponent. After a hard fought first game where Mahika lost her serve after seven deuces, the 12-year-old Kashvi did not look back, racing to a 4-0 lead before winning the first set 6-2. In a similar fashion, Kashvi went 4-2 up in the second and signed off with a 6-3 win.
