Field day for Karnataka players at National Games

Sharmada Balu and SD Prajwal Dev led the march of Karnataka players in the tennis event of the 36th National Games in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Sharmada and Prajwal first  made it to the quarterfinals in the singles event and later joined hands to move into the semifinals of the mixed doubles.
 
While Sharmada inflicted a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Akanksha Nitture of Maharashtra, Prajwal scored an easy 6-2, 6-2 victory over Delhi's Sarthak Suden in the round of 16. The Karnataka pair then registered a hard-fought 5-7, 6-3, 10-1 win over the Delhi duo of Kashish Bhatia and Ricky Chauhary. 
 
In the other matches featuring the State's players, Manish G stormed into the men's singles quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Gujarat's Madhwin Kamath. Soha Sadiq waged a valiant battle but lost narrowly to Sai Samhita 5-7, 6-3, 6-7, (6-8) to bow out of the women's singles event.
