The PET ITF Mandya begins with the first round of qualifying at the PET Stadium here from Saturday. A total of 32 hopefuls will get on to the court vying for the eight spots available for the main draw that begins from Tuesday. The second and final round of qualifying will be played on Monday.
Players from as many as 19 countries including hosts India are taking part in the US $ 25,000 prize money event. The singles winner will get richer by US $ 3600 but more importantly will earn 25 ATP points. The runner-up will walk away with a cheque of US $ 2120 and will get 16 points. The doubles winners will get US $ 1550 and 25 ATP points while the runners up will earn US $ 900 and 16 ATP points.
Meanwhile, Ajay Malik, Oges Theyjo Jayaprakash, Dec Sinha, Kevin Titus Suresh and local lad SV Prajwal received the wildcards for the qualifying draw. The top five seeds for the qualifying draw included Nitin Kumar Sinha, Woobin Shin of Korea, Aryan Shah and Raghav Jaisinghani.
