The Bowring Institute ITF Women’s World Tour got off to a colourful start with the players and officials releasing balloons in the air at the Bowring tennis courts here on Tuesday. However the highlight of the event was Asian Games gold medallist Rutuja Bhosale who was felicitated by the historic Club while KSLTA presented the champion with a cheque of Rs 1 lakh for her brilliant achievement at the quadrennial Games.
Former National champion Udhaya Kumar who is one of the oldest active player graced the occasion and did the ceremonial toss for the opening match of the tournament between Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamipaty and Humera Baharmus.
